Seattle Mariners

From the Kid to the King to the Wizard: Seattle Mariners Books

With Ichiro’s recent retirement, it marks an end to the degrees of separation that bridge us to the glory days of the Mariners. If you were around in the 90s, it is impossible to forget how popular Ken Griffey Jr. was. Everyone wanted to be him, he was almost every kids favorite player, and I imagine countless kids were chewed out on the field for wearing their cap backwards like him. But what is more remarkable? The fact that the Mariners waited to have their best season AFTER he left, with their new superstar, Ichiro. Now with Ichiro retired and Felix Hernandez on his last legs, the Mariners are looking for their next wave of superstars to carry them to the promise land. The gun-slinging, never saw a trade he didn’t like, Jerry Dipoto tore it down for the M’s hoping to find a new superstar somewhere. But for now, the Mariners will have to bask in the glory of their former superstars and the legends they created up in the Pacific Northwest.
